Physical exhaustion is not the end of me. Thank Jesus for that! Matthew 11:28-29 “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble […]
There is nothing like the smell of homemade bread doin’ its thing in the oven. Am I right? The other day when I was making this makeshift, from-scratch loaf, I couldn’t stop breathing in the yeasty, hearty smell of the bread, excited to eat it! […]
Today has been beautiful. I am ever-amazed by God's provision and timing over us, and yet isn't it almost prideful that my amazement might exist; for His timing and authority over us is simply an everlasting Truth.
I woke up, breakfasted, spent some time in the Word and enjoyed a slow morning before heading out to meet Johnny's sister-in-law, Amanda. She is a special soul and I have been feeling more and more close with her as I've had the opportunity to know her. Her heart for the Lord and for people is inspiring and infectious!

We caught up over coffee and book shopping before I had a super quick arms and back and stretching time at the gym, so rejuvenating. Tons of food followed, and then a tea date with beautiful Savannah, a girl I have danced with since before I was 10, who radiates Jesus and beauty and selflessness. One of the most beautiful influences in my life, Savannah and I talked about our lives (she is currently preparing for a co-op term in SINGAPORE!), the power of prayer, and Jesus' provision in our lives. I started an evening shift at Starbucks 5:30, and headed to prepare for that next. It was a wonderful shift full of awesome and brightening customers, my amazing co-workers, and such a blessed space. I got to chat and hang out with two of my favourite baristas too as we slow down in the evening, and it was just a great shift.
And coming home to my younger sister's best friend, a wonderful guy who means the world to me, for a catch up was just another special surprise.
Philippians 1:22-25, “If by continuing to live I can do more worthwhile work, then I am not sure which I should choose. I am pulled in two directions. I want very much to leave this life and be with Christ, which is a far better thing; but for your sake it is much more important that I remain alive. I am sure of this, and so I know that I will stay. I will stay on with you all, to add to your progress and your joy in the faith."
LORD, show me how you need to use me. May my eyes and soul be ever on you, and my life reveal nothing but your grace, authority, and love.
Sometimes it is hard to be energetic and alert, especially at work.Do we agree? The only person/thing/healer/restorer of energy is JESUS. But I am endlessly amazed by the natural physical healers He has provided on this earth. Here, some God-given energy providers that really work.Cinnamon. Cinnamon […]
Happy Tuesday July 25th! I can't believe we are nearing the end of this month. Summer is quickly disappearing, which brings big changes to my life and routine again, some happy and some sad, but all to the glory of Jesus Christ.
If you missed my last post, be sure to check it out. Today I thought I'd clarify my personal opinion of the top ten attractions in NYC.
Broadway. My family and I saw Wicked, and while it's the only broadway show I've ever seen and thus have nothing to compare it to, I recommend you see THIS ONE. It blew my expectations out of the water in every way.
Biking Central Park. We rented bikes and got almost 3 hours worth of biking around the iconic park. It is complete with tons of food stands, runners and joggers, and other bikers; friendly faces and dog walkers, art sellers and buskers. It even has a water park, as well as several restaurants and a John Lennon memorial! I have never so much enjoyed a bike ride!
Carmine's. This Italian restaurant in the heart of Times Square serves delicious pastas of every kind you could dream of, all family style with free garlic bread. I had a white wine shrimp linguine that was almost as good as the pasta at Daniella's in Boston.
Rockefeller Centre. A trip to the top of the Rockefeller Centre, where Jimmy Fallon records his Late Show, served as the perfect view of the entire city.
OatMeals. My family would disagree with you, but I have been excited about visiting this build-your-own oatmeal cafe for years, as I learned that someone else understands how delicious and versatile this food is! My only regret is that the owner was not in when we visited… but my peanut butter banana bacon oatmeal was to die for.
Ferry to Staton Island. This free ferry boat served as a beautiful scenic trip both to and from the peaceful Staton Island. We had dinner right on the lake at a seafood grill place which served delicious crispy salmon. We ferried back at nighttime, getting the perfect view of the city all aglow.
By Chloe. The famous By Chloe all vegan restaurant lived up to the hype! We could barely get a seat even though we went for a lunch at 2:30. The beet ketchup was probably my favourite part of the experience.
The Brooklyn Bridge. Another gorgeous site seeing moment, walking along this famous bridge was breathtaking.
Edison Hotel. Our hotel, the building Thomas Edison first implemented electricity in, was full of history and right in the heart of Times Square. It was the perfect location.
Greenwich Village. You can dedicate days to touring this gorgeous part of the city, which is full of hole in the wall cafes and pubs, vintage stores, and museums.
The 9/11 Memorial. An absolute must-see.
Hey guys! As you may have noticed, I took a Spirit-led leave of absence from the blog and am excited to be sitting down to write now. You will discover that the site is different, and, I hope, easier to navigate, though there are still […]
Hi All! Sometimes I just wanna tell the world how amazing my boyfriend is, make sure everyone knows. Usually, I feel most called and content ensuring that he knows my love for him himself. But there’s nothing like showing him off a little bit; here, […]
Sometimes I just wanna tell the world how amazing my boyfriend is, make sure everyone knows. Usually, I feel most called and content ensuring that he knows my love for him himself. But there’s nothing like showing him off a little bit; here, ten things I’ve learned from him, that might teach you a thing or two, too.
Soccer is Not What I Thought It Was. I don’t know about you guys, but I used to watch my older sister play rep soccer and I just sort of watched the ball get kicked around, people attempting to get it in the net. Now, I see the amount of skill, technique, and drive that has to go in to the sport, and Johnny’s passion that comes from a desire for nothing less than the greatest has made watching soccer a much different and more engaged experience for me.
We Are Meant to Live Dead to Ourselves. Galatians 2:20 “I have been crucified with Christ; and it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself up for me.”
Food Doesn’t Have to Be Complicated. I took pointers and was initially convicted in my idolization– which could be passion, but wasn’t at the time– of choosing what I was going to eat, when I see that Johnny is happy and grateful with whatever, seeking to be filled and fuelled while enjoying fellowship and good food.
Music Isn’t Just “Nice to Listen To.” Ok, this one I already knew and was passionate about before knowing Johnny, but in a different sort of way. I’ve always loved listening to song lyrics and vocals, but Johnny has taught me about the artistry that is an entire album as one work of art, and the importance of music not just in what it can make individuals feel, but the what the work is saying.
Business Isn’t All About Money. Businesses, in their most successful form, seek genuinely to better a product for the true benefit of consumers, with a care to see the company grow and for customers to meet Jesus in employees as He sees fit, and Johnny exhibits this because His eyes are fixed on the Lord.
We Don’t All Have to Be Friends with Everybody. Not everybody is going to be best friends with everybody else, and that is okay. We are called to put on the armour of Christ in all circumstances, which is of love, grace, and forgiveness, and this can sometimes actually look like the removing oneself from some hindering relationships.
I love hats. Both on Johnny, and myself actually😜.
Hard Work and Dedication in Pursuit of the Lord… is the way I feel called to live life. I don’t know what God’s going to do in our lives, but, in many ways through Johnny, He has taught me the value of simply trusting that He’s going to be great; exactly who He says He is.
Listening and Talking Are Both Beautiful Qualities, but Most Beautiful When Put Together. Maybe I’m biased, but Johnny’s intent listening and genuine caring, coupled with a sense of knowing when it’s time to talk and share from himself, holds a lot to learn from.
Pleasure is Patient Endurance. Looking back on different moments in our relationship, I see how the Lord has given Johnny strength and direction in pursuit of our relationship in that we are always learning together, moving together, growing together.
One of the world’s worst feelings: waking up and realizing you’ve slept in. That was me this morning. I woke up to the time 7:12am and the automatic sinking realization that my shift at work had started 12 minutes before. Crap. Why didn’t my alarm […]
