I’m all about flavour in food.
In fact, one of the things I am most passionate about is the very plethora of incredible spices and flavours God created from the beginning that can be used in food and also that are proven to heal.
Many of these favourite spices and flavour combos are included in my cookbook/ebook, only 8.99 straight to your phone!
Turmeric is one of my favourites. It has a bit of an Indian flavour, but to me it has a hint of a cheesy flavour, too. It tastes superb in scrambled eggs, on chicken, or on sautéed veggies. It is also a natural cancer fighter.
If you’re looking for a way to make your morning cereal or oatmeal more interesting, try a chocolate raspberry combo. Toss some fresh or frozen raspberries into your morning bowl. In a small dish, combine equal parts peanut butter, cocoa powder, and maple syrup, and microwave 10-15 seconds. Pour over your breakfast. Bam, dessert.
Another delectable addition to sweet breakfast bowls is pecans. Great for snacking or on top of meats or desserts, pecans add an entirely new flavour, as well as some crunch, to your dish.
For a simple flavour boost in a smoothie, try flavoured milk instead of your usual, such as chocolate, strawberry, or vanilla. As I’m allergic to milk, I love using coconut yogurt in smoothies as a hearty and nutty substitute.
For a an easy and flavourful dressing for salads, try mixing together an oil, 1/2 tsp oregano, a squeeze of lemon juice, pinch salt, pinch brown sugar, pinch of ginger, pinch of mustard powder. This is my favourite homemade dressing for raw veggies.
If you’re looking to switch up your usual meat sauce for pasta, try adding cremini mushrooms sautéed with onions in some oil with oregano and basil and seasoned salt. Sauté this up first, and then stir the veggies into your usual bolognese.
I’ve never been a big fan of popcorn, but a surprisingly delicious snack I’m loving is popcorn mixed with sweet and salt nuts, dark chocolate, and dried fruit. Filling and easy snacking!
Food is simply fuel. A part of every day, that can be fun and enjoyable. It fills us physically so that we can work for the Lord. It is amazing how He wants us to joy in it, and I give Him praise for giving its preparation to me as something I can serve Him in.
Food is for the stomach and the stomach for food; and God shall destroy both one and the other. 1 Corinthians 6:13
